The State of Things #6 | How mini comics help me process my thoughts and feelings
The State of Things #6 | March 2024
Hey what’s up. The State of Things is a series I write regularly to keep myself aligned on what’s most important to me. This time around, I go back to the fundamentals and talk about my core values and follow it up with a few comics I’ve done that have helped me to process my thoughts.
I have so many different passions and things that I want to be good at, I often find it difficult to keep track of them all or prioritize them in my life. For the past few years I feel like I’ve been in the planning stage than in the execution stage. I want to get over that and start doing some meaningful work.
Open projects:
Fantasy comics
Fine arts (painting, etc.)
Making a family. Found family
Starting to make some videos
(Stretch) Building a business or an app
Values:
Free time
Interior design, good physical living environment
Money to buy freedom
Community, uplifting others.
Mindset
Test the most basic assumptions of the work-life equation.
Journaling prompts
If I were to repeat this week’s actions for 10 years, where would it lead, and is that where I want to be?
What would you do if money were no object?
What have I done in the last 2 weeks that has energized me? What have I done in the last 2 weeks that has drained me?
Comics about comics
Lately I’ve been making mini comics before I go to bed. They’ve become and easy and habitual way for me to process my thoughts and ouput them into a “story”. Here are a few that I think fit this month’s The State of Things post.
Comic #41: Easy
Comic #43: Embarassed
Comic #42: Yaoi
Comics Summary
Start with a writing comic one shots.
I’ll take down my daily comics challenge posts on Webtoon sometime in July.
Comics can be a relaxing experience for me to process my thoughts, when I’m not taking them too seriously.
